Sunset in the Pacific Ocean:
On the port side deck of the recently launched sailing training ship UNION of the Peruvian Navy, rests one of the two training vessels we designed and built during 2015 and 2016 by order of the SIMA (Peruvian Navy Shipyard).
These are two 8 metre whaleboats that we built in composites, simulating wooden lapstrake type construction. They were built using vacuum infusion of epoxy resin and cooked to 60º. With this system we were able to achieve strong lapstrake edges that were also reinforced with carbon fibre. All the interior is wood joinery in plywood and noble wood, and she has a capacity of 12 crew members. She can sail under motor, oars and sail.
The beautiful picture on the front cover was taken by Comander Gianfranco Polar, Captain of the Ship, and the picture on the rear cover was taken in our Boatyard on the launching and sea trials of the Union I.
